Three teachers who started sharing their tests.
Examinor didn't start in a boardroom, but in a shared folder of exam questions.
We are three teachers from different corners of the Netherlands — a big city, a mid-sized town, and a village where everyone knows each other. We met at a subject-teacher day and stayed in touch. First a single email with a test attached, later a shared folder, and eventually a habit: whatever one of us made, the others used.
What struck us: we spent less and less time on assessment. Not because we tested less, but because we no longer did everything alone. A question used and refined by three teachers was simply better than one invented alone on a Friday night.
All three of us also have a great interest in technology. So we asked the obvious follow-up: if sharing saves this much time when creating tests, what could technology do for grading them? That was the real start of Examinor. First a script, then a prototype we used in our own classrooms, then a platform other teachers joined.
Examinor is still built on that idea: teachers make the questions, technology takes over the repetitive work. Never the other way around.
Our vision: the subak principle
On Bali, farmers have shared their water for a thousand years through subak: a network of canals managed by the farmers themselves. Nobody hoards the water, because everyone knows the field downstream needs to grow too. We believe knowledge in education should flow exactly like that.
